Because Storybook Farm is a non-profit organization, we heavily rely on our volunteers to help us operate the Farm successfully. There are many ways to get involved; assisting with sessions and field trips, daily chores and general up keep, are just a few of the duties volunteers help with each week.

Session volunteers can expect to commit to an average of 10 weeks of consistent volunteer time in the spring and fall, and five weeks during the summer. Our session volunteers are responsible for greeting families, assisting the children with tacking and grooming the horse, leading or side walking during the ride and helping with craft time.

Session Volunteer Requirements

- Must be at least 15 years old.

- Must complete volunteer training

- Must be committed to volunteering consistently each week.

- Must wear close-toed shoes and appropriate clothing.

Individuals who are interested in volunteering with sessions must complete two training sessions. The training generally last several hours and consists of learning about the children the volunteers will be assisting, horse management, proper safety precautions and about the ministry at Storybook Farm.  Spring Sessions will begin the week of February 21 and run through the week of April 9 with the week of March 12 off for spring break.
